The Hypothetical Home: New Listing Offers Land and a Travis Price Design
Early rendering of plans for 2602 29th Street NW
A plot of land at 2602 29th Street NW (map) recently entered the market with a “choose your own adventure” twist.
For one price — $3.5 million — one can buy the plot at the address and move forward with building a home with their own architect and construction team or use the existing plans for the lot from architect Travis Price. For $10 million, however, you can purchase the land, the construction costs and Price’s ready-made design that is suited for the land.
While we don’t have any interior renderings, the listing information lays out some of the features of the Travis Price design, which includes a geothermal heating and cooling system, a gourmet kitchen, seven bedrooms, four fireplaces, an elevator, a game room, and a pool house. The swanky-sounding master bathroom includes a bidet, steam shower, and dual walk-in closets.
This is not the first time this year that a deal of this nature has hit the market. In January, a planned estate on the site of Ted Kennedy’s former McLean home hit the market for an eye-popping $45 million. However, if a buyer just wants the land, it is far less expensive.
