A major overhaul is on the boards for what has become known as Dave Thomas Circle. In late 2021, DC's Department of Transportation presented its final plans to redevelop the chaotic intersection. The redesign would open First Street and Florida Avenue to two-way traffic and protected bike lanes would be added on streets around the circle. The new initiative also calls for at least three new public spaces to be added around the former Wendy's site.
