The 5 DC Neighborhoods Where You Paid Above Asking in 2019

The DC housing market was not quite the uber-competitive scene in 2019 that it has been in years past, but there were areas of the city where competition was still intense for homebuyers.
UrbanTurf looked at the original list price to sold price ratio of homes sold in neighborhoods across DC this year to determine where homes were regularly selling for above asking price. If the ratio were perfect, and homes were selling at their list price, the metric would be 100 percent. For the five neighborhoods below, the ratio is greater than 100 percent, meaning that homes are, on average, selling above list price.

The three neighborhoods leading the way are upper NW neighborhoods that are perennially on this list largely due to a low supply of homes for sale combined with high demand. AU Park, for example, has been on this list for the last three years. Congress Heights is the only neighborhood not in NW DC that made the list, and a new entrant is Woodley Park, where the sale price to original list price ratio just rose above 100 percent his year.
