The Meriwether is offering a variety of two-bedroom and two-bathroom residences, as well as a rarity among DC condos -- incredible two-level penthouses with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and either one or two enclosed glass offices. The homes are move-in ready and currently selling from $850,000.

The story of The Meriwether building -- a registered landmark -- begins during the Civil war, when an act of Congress made it a sanctuary for formerly enslaved women and children. It was named after one of its founders, African-American activist Mary Robinson Meriwether. Later it was transformed into an orphanage, and then into a hub for community arts and education. The property has always had deep ties to the community that surrounds it, a vibrant section of Pleasant Plains that continues to offer a rich combination of historic charm, cultural landmarks and small businesses.

The homes at The Meriwether are expansive in size, ranging from 1,200 to 2,900 square feet. Most of the units have dedicated outdoor space in the form of balconies or patios, and the penthouses boast multiple private spaces, including rooftop terraces -- with fire pits and built-in speakers -- that are ideal for taking in July 4th fireworks and views of the city.

All of the homes are finished with custom molding, high-end closets, wide plank flooring, high-end Thor and Bosch appliances, and Calcutta gold quartz or marble countertops. Other unique features include multi-zoned HVAC with NEST controls; family rooms with acoustic panels; and glass-enclosed offices with custom book racks (in select units). Bike racks and eight secured parking spaces are also available, including car parking with prewired EV chargers.

The Meriwether is steps from trendy dining and shopping, and offers easy access to Columbia Heights Metro. It is also close to bustling neighborhoods like the U Street Corridor, Shaw, Logan Circle, Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan.
