Northfield Development’s proposed mixed-use project between Barracks Row and Navy Yard received unanimous support for its Historical Preservation Review Board application from the ANC 6B Planning Committee earlier this week.
The 22-unit project, designed by Peter Fillat Architects, will be located at 801 Virginia Avenue SE (map), under a mile from the Navy Yard Metro.
The ground floor of the building will have 3,000 square feet of retail, which the developers are hoping to fill with a local restaurant, “perhaps one currently residing on Barracks Row,” Nathan Hamman, managing partner for Northfield Development, said in an emailed statement about the project.
There will be 16 one-bedroom units, three studios, and three two-bedrooms in the project. Hamman said the average unit size will be about 750 square feet. If things go according to schedule, the plan is to break ground next spring.
