“The Applicant intends to combine an extraordinary unique building design, reusing elements of a former industrial building and pairing them with modern design, to co-locate hotel and artist/maker spaces in a welcoming environment for city residents and visitors seeking a one of a kind arts-oriented DC hotel experience,” according to documents filed with Zoning Commission on Tuesday.

The hotel will have more than 3,000 square feet dedicated to art studios and classrooms. There will also be a restaurant located over the hotel lobby, an art gallery/restaurant on the hotel’s 11th floor, and a rooftop with a lounge, pool, and bar. The hotel was designed by DC-based architecture firm BBGM.
The development team on the project took inspiration from The Crosby Street Hotel and The Hudson in New York City.
