Rendering of 1737 Connecticut Avenue NW
UrbanTurf has learned that work is progressing on a new boutique condo project and ground-floor wine bar in Dupont Circle. Expected delivery is later this year or early 2012.
The project, which will be located at 1737 Connecticut Avenue NW (map), will either consist of four or six luxury condos on the upper floors, and a wine bar on the street level. Dario Davies, a principal of project architect FormDesign, the group that bought the building and will be doing the design, said if they go the six-unit route there will be five one-bedroom plus dens (averaging 850 square feet) and a 1,600 square-foot two-bedroom duplex. He said that the goal is to deliver the units by the end of 2011, but that January or February 2012 may be a more accurate time frame.
The development was originally announced in early 2010, with a completion date this year, but that timeline has been pushed back. The building, which was gutted in recent months, will also house a wine bar on the ground floor from the folks behind Bedrock Billiards. Long-time Dupont residents may remember when 1737 Connecticut was the home of Italian restaurant Anna Maria’s.
