The basements of homes for sale in the DC area are usually not the standout feature of the house. However, that isn't the case with a home on the market in Potomac, Maryland.
On Tuesday, Jason Shevrin tweeted out images of the unique basement for a seven-bedroom mansion listed for sale in Potomac. A mash-up between Mayberry and turn-of-the-century Georgetown, UrbanTurf reached out to see what else it could find out about the space.

The small town scene in the basement comes complete with a brick road as well as a gas station, post office and a theater playing two movies on opposite ends of the viewing spectrum. Unfortunately, all those storefronts are just facades.
However, the antique cars are real and there is a garage door that leads to the outside, so they can be taken out for a spin.
"The owner has a sense of humor," listing agent Lori Leasure of Washington Fine Properties told UrbanTurf. "He just wanted to have a fun basement where he could throw parties."
The "bar" in the basement is set up as a recreation room with a pool table and television, and Leasure said that this level is decorated every Christmas with poinsettias and trees that stay downstairs all year long.
Built in 1987, this is not the only house that the owner has outfitted in an unorthodox way. His vacation home, currently on the market in St. Michaels, Maryland, has a plane mounted in the great room, as flying is one of his hobbies.
Interested in having your own parties in this space? The home is listed for $4.5 million. More details below.
