Luxury Car-Sharing, $40,000 Binoculars: The Over-the-Top Amenities at The Hepburn
A rendering of The Hepburn.
Welcome to Property Week, a week-long UrbanTurf series devoted to intriguing residential properties in the DC area and beyond. From a DC version of Wrigleyville to a new Trinidad apartment building with only five-bedroom units, this week is all about cool residences. Enjoy.
It seems as though almost every day (or at least several times a week), an announcement comes of a new residential building in the works here in the nation’s capital. And while the term luxury is attached to a number of these new projects, The Hepburn, the 195-unit apartment building adjacent to the Washington Hilton that is scheduled for completion in the coming month, will offer a level of amenities meant to cater to a specific level of renter.

For example, there will be a car-sharing service that will make luxury automobiles available to residents. New renters will receive annual memberships to the Phillips Collection. There will be a wine lounge with wine lockers, and a library and private dining room with a catering kitchen. The apartments have been constructed so that whether you are on the first floor or in the penthouse, you will have a view of the Washington Monument. In addition to a pool, shuffleboard and cabanas, there will be restored U.S. naval binoculars on the roof to offer views of the surrounding area.
Naturally, these amenities, as well as others like a dog washing station, a curated custom art program, and a private yoga studio, will come with a rental rate to match. A studio apartment will run $2,400 a month when the building is completed this summer, and the largest apartment will lease for over $13,000 a month.
