"Landmark is in preliminary talks about operating the Uptown," Michael Fant, vice president of real estate and development, told UrbanTurf. "We are currently looking at the potential for reopening the theater."
Built in 1936, the 800-seat Uptown Theater closed in March 2020 as operator AMC's lease came to an end. It is one of the only single screen movie theaters remaining in the city and has been host to movie premieres like Jurassic Park and 2001: A Space Odyssey over the years.
Blake-Dickson Real Estate Services is representing Landmark Theatres in the transaction. UrbanTurf will update this article as negotiations progress between Landmark and the Uptown.
