Earlier this year, UrbanTurf took a look at the timelines and locations for the new Target stores slated to open in the District. Now, one of those locations has an opening date — and it's ahead of schedule.
The Target which will anchor a shopping center at 16th Street and New York Avenue NE (map) in Ivy City is now slated to open on November 10th. The retailer held a hiring event last week; the project was initially expected to deliver next year. The store is also holding a soft "community" opening on November 6th.

Douglas Development is developing the shopping center on the nearly two-acre site, and is also responsible for the small-format Target which opened earlier this year in Shepherd Park. The Ivy City Target will be roughly 67,000 square feet, sell beer and wine, and will include a Starbucks and CVS-administered pharmacy services.
Around the corner at the old Pappas tomato packing plant, Douglas Development is also at work on a mixed-use warehouse redevelopment which will include an Other Half brewery and an axe-throwing venue.
