The Washington Commanders are set to come back to DC.

This morning, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Commanders will announce that a deal has been reached to build a new stadium at the site of RFK Stadium. NBC4 reported earlier this month that the city and football team were close to finalizing a $3 billion deal to bring the team back to the city.

Back in February, it started to look like things were moving in DC's favor. That is when the DC Council unanimously passed the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Emergency Approval Resolution, which transferred the RFK site from the National Park Service to the District, and extended the stadium lease approved by Congress and former President Joe Biden.

While details of the deal have yet to be released, the plans for the new stadium are likely to include significant development around the 174-acre RFK site. Commanders owner Josh Harris has long said that he hopes to have a stadium built by 2030.
