Former Irish Ambassadorial Residence in Kalorama Sells For $8 Million
The longtime home to the Irish ambassadorial residence in DC has sold.
The Frederic Delano House at 2244 S Street NW (map) hit the market in early February for $8 million, and fetched that list price when it closed last week. Listed with Margot Wilson of Washington Fine Properties, the nine-bedroom Kalorama property was built around 1920 for Frederic Delano, an uncle of President Franklin Roosevelt, and served as the ambassadorial residence for nearly 60 years.

The new residence for Ireland is not too far away. In December, the country bought the 15,000 square-foot residence at 2221 30th Street NW (map) for $12.25 million.
