3310 R Street NW
Evalyn Walsh McLean had an extravagant experience in the DC real estate world by any measure.
Before purchasing a large home on R Street in Georgetown in 1942, McLean lived on the massive estate that became McLean Gardens on Wisconsin Avenue. Her home at 3308 R Street NW, where McLean entertained Supreme Court justices and other luminaries in the 1940s, was so big that when she died, it was split into three separate residences on large lots.
One of those homes is now on the market.

View of the backyard
The three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 3310 R Street NW was listed for sale this week. The home maintains a few grand features that McLean likely would’ve appreciated, including a 26-foot-by-20-foot living room with tall ceilings and an extremely deep backyard by Georgetown standards. The third level of the home offers views of Rosslyn and the Washington Monument.
Kitchen
UrbanTurf’s favorite room in the home is the kitchen that has a very European feel to it, with a large island and long wood beams lining the ceiling.
