Eastbanc's Georgetown Projects To Be Built Within Six Months of One Another

Eastbanc has been at the center of DC residential development news over the past week, as the firm announced plans last Friday for two new residential projects in Georgetown to go along with its conversion of the post office on M Street into a nine-unit residential building.
UrbanTurf spoke with Eastbanc’s Mary Mottershead yesterday who, among other things, provided a general timeline for the three projects.
“Nothing will start for at least a year,” Mottershead told UrbanTurf. “Our plan is to have all three projects built within six months of one another.” Mottershead indicated that construction on the post office project would likely start first, then the Wisconsin Avenue project (internally called The Verizon because it will be built on a parking lot in front of the Verizon switching building) and finally the development on the current site of the Georgetown Exxon.

The residential units at the post office project will likely range in size from 1,100 to 1,300 square feet, according to Mottershead, and the postal service will retain retail space in the new development. Below-grade parking will be provided for both residents and post office employees.
As for the Wisconsin Avenue project, Georgetown Metropolitan reported this morning that the five-story project will likely be constructed entirely of stone “to echo the stonework around the [Georgetown] canal.”
Mottershead also said that while it is likely that the projects will all go condo, a final decision will not be made for several months.
