DC's new most expensive home for sale is the former residence of the Swedish ambassador.
The Swedish government put the 12,200 square-foot property at 3900 Nebraska Avenue NW (map) on the market for $19.5 million on Thursday. The house sits on nearly 7 acres and is listed with Cara Pearlman and T.J. Morton at Compass.

The property is being sold because Sweden wants a modern residence in a central location, according to The Wall Street Journal. Since 1950, the residence along Nebraska Avenue has been home to 12 Swedish ambassadors.
The seven-bedroom home is in need of renovations, but features a commercial grade kitchen, formal library and ballroom as well as a greenhouse and lighted tennis court on the grounds.
