DC Releases RFP for Development of Chevy Chase Civic Site
Plans are moving forward to redevelop one of the most hotly debated sites in DC.
On Wednesday, DC's Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) released a request for proposals (RFP) for the Chevy Chase Civic Site Neighborhood Library and Community Center. The RFP requires a new library, community center, and housing to be developed at the site located at 5601 and 5625 Connecticut Avenue NW (map).

“With the Chevy Chase Civic Site, we have the opportunity to create a civic site that is a model of how public facilities can be developed to create a vibrant, mixed-use community space that includes neighborhood-serving amenities and much-needed housing,” said Deputy Mayor Nina Albert.
The redevelopment of the civic site has been a huge topic of debate in the community over the last two years. The debate has largely centered around what will be developed at the site and how much affordable housing will be created.
The Chevy Chase RFP was developed using “OurRFP”, a process that incorporates community engagement to help shape the RFP process.
