A DC-area based modular accessory dwelling builder is expanding its reach.

TOMU Villas has announced that it will offer its prefabricated "Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired getaway dwellings" to the vacation rental and hospitality industry. The Frederick, Maryland-based company offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units starting at $99,500.

“With recent pain points in the construction industry, we saw an opportunity to bring developments in modular manufacturing to hospitality,” TOMU founder and president Chris Osaka said in a statement. “We’ve designed a modular system that is purpose-built for the needs of rental and hospitality use and can be delivered faster with minimal impact to any existing operations.” The units will arrive on site 95% complete.

Two months ago, Osaka shared with UrbanTurf that demand had risen so much that they needed to ramp up production. Unit deliveries will begin this fall.
