Carlyle Group Bigwig is Buyer of Record Setting G'town Condo
In some lighter news for your Thursday morning, Ruth Samuelson of Housing Complex has discovered who purchased the $7.295M condo at The Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown: Gregory and Nancy Ledford. (Read our past posts about this record deal here and here.)
These are are not household names to most people, but Gregory Ledford is a Managing Director at the Carlyle Group and works on “U.S. buyout opportunities in the automotive, transportation and logistics sectors,” according to the City Paper blog and his bio on the Carlyle website.
The couple is literally moving up. In 2007, they bought unit 2B in the Georgetown Ritz-Carlton for $3.55M. Their new home (Penthouse 2D) is not only on a higher floor, but much larger: 3,100 square feet of terrace space and 4,400 square feet of interior space, including four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.
Believe it or not, the building does offer larger units. From Housing Complex:
“It’s not the biggest unit in the building. It’s not even the second biggest. The $7.295 stunner, however, was the first penthouse to re-sell, says [selling agent Christopher] Ritzert, who handled the original round of sales and has since done most of the building’s re-sales.”
