Arlington Board Votes For No Property Tax Rate Increase

The Arlington County Board voted unanimously against making a change to the county’s residential property tax rate in its monthly meeting on Saturday. The static rate was included in a proposed budget that eschewed a property tax increase, but did expand the budget, which is 2.6 percent higher than the adopted FY 2014 budget.
Barbara Donnellan, Arlington’s county manager, originally anticipated an increase, but said the move to keep the rate stagnant was based on higher-than-expected real estate values over the past year.
The increase in property values across Arlington, along with a rise in costs for services like sewer and trash collection, according to the Sun-Gazette, means that total taxes and fees for Arlington residents are still likely to rise this year.
