The Party is Over: Airbnb Bans Parties, Caps Occupancy At All Listings

Following several reports of parties at Airbnbs since the pandemic began, the short-term rental company is putting its foot down.
On Thursday, Airbnb announced that it is banning parties at all of its listings and capping occupancy at 16 people. The ban will be in effect until further notice.

At least one Airbnb in DC was the subject of complaints for parties in May (when a stay-at-home order was in effect); it is unclear whether this was the same Airbnb party house that was the subject of a lawsuit years ago.
Airbnb has also attempted other party mitigation measures, including removing events from search filters, launching a 24-hour help service where people can report parties and barring guests under the age of 25 without positive reviews from renting entire houses locally.
