For this edition of Above Asking, UrbanTurf takes a look back at two listings, one in Michigan Park and one in Lincoln Park, that each sold for above asking — and it may come as a surprise which listing commanded the higher premium.

The $66,000 Detached Home Premium
Not only did this Michigan Park bungalow sell within a week, it also went for $66,000 above its asking price. The house sits on a manicured, fenced-in lot and has a petite appearance that belies its efficiently laid-out interior. The main level has an open, L-shaped main living and dining area abutting the kitchen nook at the front end of the house. The remainder of this floor is taken up by two bedrooms, which share a bath. The master suite occupies the upper level, enjoying a skylight and vaulted ceiling as well as a window-framed seating area and a dressing room alcove with built-ins on both sides. The house also has front and rear porches, a detached garage and a partially-finished basement.

A Premium for a Bedroom that Keeps on Giving
Over in Lincoln Park, this federal rowhouse commanded a lower, yet still impressive premium of $40,100 over its listing price. The house has traditional bones with subtle updates throughout, anchored by the original hardwood stair, wood-framed windows and doorways and exposed brick accent walls on the main level. While the living room and dining room occupy the left side of the house, the bright, updated kitchen occupies the right side behind the stair and contrasts white cabinetry with butcher block countertops. One of the bedrooms upstairs has an attached bonus room that opens into a sunroom. The house also has a partially-finished basement where the second full bathroom also includes the laundry room.
