A Room Along The Canal: A New Inn Has Been Proposed in Georgetown
Move over office-to-residential projects. Another conversion is in the works in Georgetown.
Plans were filed recently with DC's Old Georgetown Board for a project that would convert a single-family home along the C&O canal into a 9-room inn. The conversion is for a one-bedroom house at 3071 Canal Street NW (map), and would require construction of a rear addition.

While on a much smaller scale, the planned inn adds to a growing list of new lodging developments on the boards in Georgetown. Other projects in the works include:
- A 90-100 room hotel planned for a five-story office building at 1023 31st Street NW.
- A 100-room hotel with retail and restaurant space at 3000 M Street NW.
- A 230-room citizenM hotel along the 3400 block of Water Street.
