A 330-Unit Development Planned For Arlington Office Site

Eight months after being sold, an Arlington office building will be redeveloped as a residential project.
Penzance has filed a conceptual site plan with Arlington County for a 330-unit development at the site of an office building at 4601 Fairfax Drive (map). Penzanace purchased Ballston One, the 239,678-square-foot office building at the address, from UBS Realty Investors LLC last September.

The 12-story building will be shortened to seven stories for the reimagination, and parking will be provided in an existing two-story underground parking garage.
"Ground floor walkout units are proposed along the Property's North Wakefield Street frontage, with doors and entrances leading to the street," documents filed with Arlington County stated. "Although the Arlington County Retail Plan does not envision retail activity on North Fairfax Drive, the Applicant proposes to wrap the ground floor amenity space on this frontage and add an outdoor amenity area for residents."
