A Tesla Town?
Tesla is building a neighborhood.
On Friday, developer Brookfield announced a partnership with Tesla Energy and Dacra that would deliver "the first Tesla Solar neighborhood," near Austin, Texas. Dubbed SunHouse at Easton Park, all of the housing would have solar roof tiles, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and Powerwall batteries.

The subject properties would be in a section of the existing 2,300-acre, master-planned Easton Park community. The first installations began on under-construction properties last month.
“The feedback we get from the solar and battery products used in this community will impact how we develop and launch new products,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a statement.
SunHouse is also meant to serve as a model of a sustainable neighborhood. Tesla Solar will monitor each homes' energy, and Brookfield will also create a community solar program that the public will be able to tap into. There will also be EV-charging stations throughout the neighborhood, and there will be back-up storage for excess energy in case there is a power outage (like the one that occurred earlier this year), potentially allowing for residents to be compensated for producing excess energy.
