A 50-Unit Development is Pitched For Recognizable Buildings Along H Street

A new five-level residential development is in the works for some fairly recognizable buildings along H Street NE.
Christopher Martin, the owner of 1371 and 1375 H Street NE, presented preliminary plans for a new 50-unit residential project at 1365-1375 H Street NE to the ANC 6A Economic and Development Committee on Wednesday night. Approximately 20% of the units would be inclusionary zoning and a large cellar space would be created for bike storage. The building was designed by John Linam Jr.

The retail at the three buildings consists of Atlas Doghouse, Physicality and CrossFit, all who have expressed an interest in coming back once the new development is complete. Martin noted that 1365 H Street NE is a former car showroom and he referenced the old Studebaker showroom that is now a Shinola store along 14th Street NW as an example of how that retail could be preserved.
The development will need approval from DC's Historic Preservation Office.
