A new residential project in Georgetown looks to reimagine an older property along the canal.
Plans filed with the Old Georgetown Board earlier this month outline a development for the building at 1048 29th Street NW (map) that will retrofit the property with 8 residential units and a restaurant on the ground level.

The project, designed by Rich Markus Architects, would add a third floor and penthouse to the building, and unlike most new residential projects in the city, the residential units will all be three-bedrooms.
The development is the second new project pitched along the Georgetown canal this month. A concept to convert a single-family home into a 9-room inn was filed two weeks ago.
