47-Unit Boutique Lodging Development Planned in Middle of Chinatown
A new plan is on the boards for a group of five townhouses in the middle of DC's Chinatown.
Rift Valley Partners is proposing a 47-unit residential development with a hybrid lodging use for the properties at 509-517 H Street NW (map). This is not the first proposal for these addresses; Acumen Cos. pitched a "lifestyle" hotel for the same properties back in 2020.
Designed by Cunningham | Quill, the new 47-unit project will be somewhere between a hotel and an apartment building.

"The 47 units will have full kitchens, in-unit washer/dryers and separate living and sleeping spaces" Rift Valley Partners Stephan Rodiger told UrbanTurf. "The proposed project will be a lodging use, but with boutique apartment style unit amenities for short and longer stays."
The exteriors of the townhomes will be preserved while the interiors will be renovated and a large set-back rear addition will be constructed. The development team will go before the Historic Preservation Review Board in February.
