400 Apartments Proposed off Columbia Pike — And That's Just the First Phase
The redevelopment of five residential buildings along Columbia Pike is currently in the works. Developer Merion Group has filed a preliminary site plan application with Arlington County to redevelop an existing multi-family development off the Columbia Pike corridor.
The first phase of the Pike West development would deliver 401 condo and rental units to 834-877 S Greenbrier Street (map); 124 of the units would be affordable. There are currently five residential buildings on the development site.
There will also be 164 street-level bicycle spaces and six levels of above-grade parking with 408 spaces. The second building would wrap the other side of the garage, fronting a new street that will bisect the first and second phases of the planned redevelopment.
The apartments will range from junior one-bedrooms to three-bedrooms, with some of the street-facing units boasting triangular bay windows. KGD Architecture is the designer.
Relatedly, a recent report took a look at the commercial market of the 3.6-mile Columbia Pike corridor, highlighting several statistics about past and future housing production in that area.
