One Hyde Park
There is not a typo in that headline.
In this week’s departure from all things DC real estate, we report on what is supposedly the most expensive home purchase ever. Luxist.com recently reported that a six-bedroom penthouse was purchased at One Hyde Park in London for the equivalent of $220 million. One Hyde Park is a four-building luxury development that overlooks Hyde Park, one of the largest parks in central London. The project will be finished later this year.

The view from the most expensive home in the world.
It seems that $220 million buys you protection more than anything. The two-level penthouse has bullet-proof windows, a panic room and the security guards at the project are former members of England’s elite Special Air Service (SAS). Given such a high level of security, it is no wonder that the buyer is rumored to be a major player in the oil trade from either the Middle East or Nigeria.
