A large new apartment project is in the works for the Long Branch section of Silver Spring.
Sonina Properties has proposed a new 148-unit building at 831 University Boulevard East (map). The project, designed by Eric Colbert & Associates, will have a two-wing design meant to create a project that looks like it is two different structures.

"At the northern end of the property,t will be what appears to be a conventional four-story rectangular apartment building," a narrative filed with Montgomery County stated. "But to the south, more apartments will be contained in a five-story structure with an extended arced facade facing University Boulevard."
A glass-walled lobby will connect the two wings and function as a multi-purpose space for residents. There will be a total of 115 parking spaces in the project and 75 bicycle parking spots.
The plans for the new development will likely head to Montgomery County's Development Review Committee in the coming weeks.
