$1.4 Million: The Price for a House in DC Hit a New High in April

Another month, another new record for the price a house in DC.
After setting a new high in March, the value of a detached house in DC skyrocketed to another record in April. The median price for this property type in the city rose to $1.395 million, according to Bright MLS, up 11% compared to last April and about $100,000 higher than just a month ago.

A look around the city in April finds that the neighborhoods that saw some of saw the highest year-over-year price increases were Palisades (44%), AU Park (41%) and Chevy Chase DC (24%).
The rise in detached house prices in the District over the last two years has been eye-popping. In May 2019, the median price for a house was more than half a million dollars lower than it is today.
