A new addition is in the works for the redevelopment of the Walter Reed campus.
Plans were filed this week with DC's Historic Preservation Office (HPO) for a 102-unit, all-affordable building for senior citizens on Parcel M at the Parks at Walter Reed. The proposed project will be a three-story plus penthouse building with below grade parking that will run the length of a city block at 1250 Dahlia Street NW (map).

"The new building will be an age and income restricted building for older adults (62+ years)," the HPO filings stated. "The affordability mix will be consistent with DHCD requirements and the Mayor’s Age Friendly DC 2023 Strategic Plan with 30% of the senior units at 30% AMI and 70% at 50% AMI."
The BKV Group-designed development incorporates green roof areas and solar photovoltaic panels, and will have a variety of amenities for its residents. It will go before the Historic Preservation Review Board in the coming months.
