What $3,400 Rents You in the DC Area
This week in What X Rents You, UrbanTurf looked in the $3,400 a month range and found a variety of choices for prospective renters in the DC area with this monthly budget. Last time, this feature highlighted properties at $1,800 a month, so we wanted to see what is available at double that rate.
Two Levels in Capitol Hill
This 1,400 square-foot, two-bedroom rental encompasses two levels of a large, four-story Capitol Hill rowhouse, located close to the Capitol and Eastern Market. The photos reveal a bright, sunny living room, and a kitchen and bathroom that appear to be updated. Amenities include a washer/dryer and a working fireplace. The apartment is available immediately.

Family-Sized (With a Steam Room) in Takoma Park
Though $100 less than the above option, this Takoma Park house has twice as many bedrooms and many more perks, including a jacuzzi, a steam room, and even a vegetable garden. The ad seems designed for a family, highlighting Takoma Park’s nearby elementary school as well as the “terraced patio, large backyard and two off-street parking spots.” The home is available on April 1st.

Lofty Carriage House in Bloomingdale
The most unique property of the bunch, this rental is in a converted carriage house in a Bloomingdale alley. Bloomingdale Court, where the loft-like rental is located, was officially marked with a street sign only three years ago. Alley homes are certainly in vogue these days, and this one is cool, with lofty bedrooms, an industrial-looking kitchen and oversized windows.
