DC's Wharf Developer Revises Plans For 500-Unit Ballston Development

The developer of The Wharf has revised its plans for a new four-building project in Northern Virginia.
At the end of 2021, Hoffman & Associates and partner Snell Properties filed an application with Arlington County to replace the office and hotel buildings at 4600 and 4610 Fairfax Drive (map) with a 504-unit development across two buildings. Now, revised plans filed last week show how the project, designed by hord|coplan|macht, has changed.

The largest building in the new development will still rise seven stories, but will have 432 units as opposed to 475. Instead of one shorter building with townhouse-style units, there will be three, five-story triplex style buildings with 12-15 units each, a parking garage and driveway.
The new project will take the place of the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston hotel at 4610 Fairfax Drive, as well as the Arlington Center office building at 4600 Fairfax Drive. The developers hope to break ground in 2024.
