Walk Score Launches Apartment-Commute Search Tool

Walk Score, the popular website that ranks specific locations based on how walkable they are to everyday amenities, has launched a tool that allows users to find apartments based on commute time.
Here is how it works. Users enter a work address, and how they plan on commuting (walking, bicycle, public transportation or driving). Based on the provided information, apartment listings from Craigslist are sorted by estimated travel time. The results can also be filtered by Walk Score, price and size.
The unveiling of Walk Score’s Apartment Search was well timed. The Texas Transportation Institute recently issued its Urban Mobility Report, which concluded commuters spent over $700, on average, getting back and forth from work in 2010.
UrbanTurf spent a good deal of time playing around with the apartment search feature, and it seems like it works pretty well. One thing it also proves, however, is that rent is indeed high in this city.
