Vamoose Gold
Just a month after discount bus service DC2NY announced that it would be running trips from DC to the Delaware beaches, Vamoose Bus rolls out the Gold Bus, a luxury bus service from Bethesda to New York City.
Housing Complex reports that the new bus will debut on June 24th where its first trip to the Big Apple will be celebrated by a send-off by a “live brass band.”
So how does this bus differentiate itself from Boltbus, MegaBus, DC2NY and the other popular discount bus services? Well, other than more legroom and seats that recline “almost to a laying down position,” according to the promotional video, the bus seems pretty much the same as its competitors. There are power outlets and Wi-Fi, the two things that separated the second generation of discount bus services from the Chinatown buses. The website also claims that the buses have “clean, fresh bathrooms” which would be a nice change of pace from the bathrooms on some of the buses that we have traveled on to Manhattan.
The main difference is the price. For a one-way trip, the bus is $50, so $20 more than a normal Vamoose trip and $25 (on average) more than a trip on BoltBus or Mega.
