In Under Contract, UrbanTurf looks back at properties it has featured recently that were snatched up by DC’s alert buyers.

Chevy Chase Colonial With a Pointy Roof and a Finished Attic

With five bedrooms and a head-to-toe renovation that led to four finished levels, this Chevy Chase colonial has a generous amount of livable, comfortable space. We particularly liked the playroom in the attic, which has a steeply vaulted ceiling. The exterior is also cute, with a tall, narrow and pointy facade behind a suburban-feeling white picket fence. Perhaps unsurprisingly in the current market, this home found a buyer within 6 days.

  • Address: 3215 McKinley Street NW (map)
  • Price: $849,000
  • Bedrooms: Five
  • Bathrooms: 3.5
  • Year Built: 1929
  • Days on Market: 6

Chevy Chase Colonial With a Sauna

A few weeks ago, we highlighted this home as having the potential to attract multiple bids. The home, a Chevy Chase colonial like the one above, seemed to have a couple extra features that we felt would perk up the ears of potential buyers: an in-law suite with rental potential, a two-car garage with storage on the second level, and, most impressively to us, a sauna. The home was also priced reasonably at $463 per square foot. While we don’t yet know if multiple bids drove the final price up, we do know that on May 10th, the home went under contract after about three weeks on the market.

  • Address: 3803 Legation Street NW (map)
  • Price: $799,000
  • Bedrooms: Three
  • Bathrooms: Two
  • Year Built: 1935
  • Price per Square Foot: $463
  • Days on Market: 22

The 4,000-Square-Foot Income Producer

Last week, we featured this giant, seven-bedroom Columbia Heights home in Multiple Bids. As either a very large single-family home or a group house with as many as seven potential renters, this seemed like a unique opportunity. Well, we were right about the home attracting attention; within 5 days of entering the market, the home went under contract, and the list price changed from $899,000 $1.063 million, an indication that it sold for over $150,000 above its list price.

  • Address: 1358 Kenyon Street NW (map)
  • Price: $899,000
  • Bedrooms: Seven
  • Bathrooms: Five
  • Year Built: 1900
  • Price per Square Foot: $227
  • Days on Market: 5
