Under Contract: An Architect's Home, A Top-Floor Condo and A Craftsman
In Under Contract, UrbanTurf looks back at properties it has featured recently that were snatched up by DC’s alert buyers.
Home of DC Architect Arthur Keyes
The home of Arthur Keyes, the architect behind Alexandria’s Torpedo Factory Arts Center and the west wing of the National Gallery of Art, just went under contract. Keyes designed this house for his family just after World War II, and it has a typically mid-century modern vibe. The property was listed in early February; in late March, the list price dropped by $500,000. The high-end home found a buyer about 20 days later.
- Address: 2605 31st Street NW (map)
- Price: $2.495 million
- Bedrooms: Four
- Bathrooms: Four
- Days on Market: 2 months and 6 days
Top Floor Unit At 17th and T
This unit is well-located (at the corner of Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, and the U Street Corridor), well-placed (at the top of the building), and well-lit (as a corner unit, it has ample windows and a skylight). As such, we weren’t surprised when the property found a buyer in under a week. It appears that someone liked the slightly eccentric choice of mirrors rather than tile in the kitchen.
- Address: 1741 T Street NW #404 (map)
- Price: $385,000
- Bedrooms: One
- Bathrooms: One
- Square Footage: 665
- HOA Fees: $270/month
- Days on Market: 5
Craftsman Convenient to the Park
This craftsman-style rowhouse is one block from Rock Creek Park, and has many extra rooms: a family room is tucked away near the kitchen, and an office space, surrounded by windows, is attached to the master bedroom. UrbanTurf liked the wooden detailing, the wide front porch and the lower level that led directly to the backyard. The 1,980-square-foot home found a buyer in one week.
- Address: 2011 Klingle Road NW (map)
- Price: $879,000
- Bedrooms: Five
- Bathrooms: Three
- Year Built: 1921
- Days on Market: 7
