Total Wine & More Opens This Week In Friendship Heights

Total Wine & More in Friendship Heights becomes reality this Thursday.

The wine, beer and liquor retailer will open its doors at the street-level retail space at The Residences at Mazza (map), the soon-to-open 321-unit development at the site of the former Mazza Gallerie mall.

Positioned on the building’s Western Avenue frontage, the new store will carry an expansive assortment of wines, beers, spirits, gourmet snacks and accessories. In a particularly neighborhood-focused twist, Total Wine plans to donate 10 percent of wine sales from Thursday through Sunday to Friendship Place, a D.C. nonprofit working to end homelessness. The Friendship Heights location marks the first one in Washington, D.C., joining existing Maryland outlets in Towson and Laurel.

The opening of Total Wine follows news last week that Wonder, the rapidly expanding meal platform, signed on at the development. Wonder takes meals from famous restaurants and chefs, including Bobby Flay and José Andrés, and makes them available in a single location for delivery, pickup, or dining in. Wonder and Total Wine will be joined by a number of other retailers coming to the new development, including a fast-casual salad concept and the return of TJ Maxx.
