The Yards Foundry Lofts is about to get going again.
The Post’s Jonathan O’Connell recently reported that Forest City Enterprises and the DC Housing Finance Agency have closed on a deal to finance the affordable housing section of the Capitol Riverfront project at 201 Tingey St SE (map). Construction will resume in the next two to three weeks. Once complete, the 170-unit apartment project will have 34 affordable units for people earning less than 50 percent of the area median income.
Construction on The Yards started in 2008, but stalled like a number of other projects in Captiol Riverfront when financing dried up. A delivery date of fall 2009 was pushed back to the middle of 2010 and then delayed indefinitely. The completion date for the project is now projected for October 2011.
