DC is now a town replete with high-end, luxurious homes that appeal to the city’s growing, well-heeled clientele. So, finding a listing that should be highlighted above all others for a given year is not an easy task. Here is our favorite for 2018.
UrbanTurf's favorite luxury listing of the year is a nearly 7,000 square-foot Spring Valley home on a sprawling half-acre lot.
There are many things to like about this six-bedroom home, starting with the home's spacious foyer and a set of custom built-ins that frame the entryway into the large living room.

On the main level is also an expansive family room that has large floor-to-ceiling windows as well as two sets of French doors that open into the garden-like sideyard. Another set of French doors open onto the rear flagstone terrace.
Upstairs, four of the bedrooms have en-suite baths, but our favorite aspect of this level is the sitting room off the master suite as well as the pair of walk-in closets.
The lower level has a custom wine cellar that can hold 1,500 bottles, and the entire house is outfitted with a custom audio system. In the rear yard, a heated pool also enjoys a retractable cover.
The home, listed with Ben Roth and Ellen Morrell of Washington Fine Properties, hit the market in May for $5.8 million and sold in June.
