Sponsored: New Alexandria Development Bodes Well For Old Town Commons

EYA’s Old Town Commons sits in a section of Alexandria where development is sprouting all around it. Here are just a few examples of what is on the horizon:
- Developer Erkiletian has started work on The Asher, a 206-unit apartment building two blocks from the Braddock Road Metro station. When complete, the project will include a garage with 256 parking spaces and a small retail component.
- Equity Residential will start work soon The Madison, a 340-unit luxury apartment community located at Madison and Henry Streets. The development will have 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail, and is set to deliver in 2013.
- And just a few blocks from Old Town Commons, Buchanan Partners and Pinkard Group have announced that a 51,500 square-foot Harris Teeter will open on the ground floor of a new 175-apartment complex near Canal Center Plaza.
Situated just steps from Metro, the Potomac River and the George Washington Parkway, the coming development bodes very well for buyers who invest in the five blocks that make up Old Town Commons.
Living Room
The first two blocks of Old Town Commons are comprised of townhomes built to look like the houses that have been in the historic neighborhood for a century. The three and four-bedroom townhomes offer rooftop terraces and either garage parking or an enclosed private rear yard, and all have been designed to LEED for Homes standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council. Prices start in the upper $600,000s, but buyers should move quickly. Just one home remains in the first block of Old Town Commons, and 20 percent of the second block has already sold after sales started at the end of February.
Kitchen
For buyers looking for something in the area that is a bit smaller than a townhome, fear not: sales on the condo phase of Old Town Commons will start later this year. The 44-unit boutique condo project will have one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den, and two-bedroom units, each with secure underground parking.
For additional details on both the remaining townhomes and the boutique condos, visit the Old Town Commons website or call 571-312-8910. Model homes are open daily from 11am to 6pm at 735 North Alfred Street.
