Six Alley Homes Are Coming to Kingman Park

A collection of new alley homes planned in Kingman Park received a key zoning approval on Wednesday.
Union Square Partners and District Real Estate were approved for a zoning variance to subdivide an alley lot between C and D Streets NE, from 15th to 16th Street (map), in order to deliver six two-story townhouses. The homes, designed by R. Michael Cross Design Group, have been in the works for more than a year.

The typical floor plan will include four bedroom suites and a den, and each home will have a front courtyard. The 34-foot wide lots will allow for at least two parking spaces with each home; every home will also have a roof deck.
"I am happy that we are building more single-family houses in DC," Evan Muchai of Union Square Partners told UrbanTurf. "We would love to do more housing in alleys around the city."
The homes will likely break ground in mid-2023.
