RealtyTrac: Foreclosure Rates Break Record

RealtyTrac released its latest foreclosure figures today and to the chagrin of housing optimists out there, a record number of homes in the country were seized during the second quarter of 2010.
If you are curious about the foreclosure situation in DC, you can see a heat map for June 2010 below. Last month, 1 in every 1,096 housing units received a foreclosure filing in DC putting it in much better shape than Nevada (1 in every 87 units in foreclosure), but not quite as good shape as New York (1 in every 1,794). Northwest is faring better than other quadrants of the city, but DC proper will likely see foreclosure filings rise as shadow inventory seeps back on to the market.
