Price Cutter: Bungalows and Gingerbread Houses

In Price Cutter this week, we highlight recent price reductions at a fairly traditional bungalow in Del Ray and the three-bedroom gingerbread house in Brookland.
A Del Ray Bungalow Traditional of the Neighborhood
The price has dropped twice on this 1920’s three-bedroom, two-bath bungalow in Del Ray since we featured it in late February, and it is now listed for $40,000 less than its original asking price. Located on a quiet street not far from the northern Virginia neighborhood’s main thoroughfare, known as The Avenue, the house has a large front porch and hardwood floors and trim throughout. However, the rear of the property is the most intriguing part as there is a good-sized slate patio with stairs that lead up to a large narrow deck and then yet one more deck with space for chairs and a small screened-in section for when the bugs get bad.

Three-Bedroom Gingerbread House in Brookland
We featured this Brookland Victorian in our What $529K Buys You round-up last week, and apparently that price point was a touch high for the home that reminds UrbanTurf of a gingerbread house. The list price was recently reduced by $14,000, and while the interior will probably need some updating at some point down the road, the home’s facade is just one of its cool features. The three-bedroom property has a wrap-around front porch, a good-sized yard, a large living and dining area and both a basement and attic that have a lot of potential. The house is also just about four blocks south of the Brookland Metro stop on the Red Line.
- Full Listing: 1231 Irving Street NE (map)
- Original Price: $529,000
- Current Price: $515,000
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: 2.5
- Square Footage: 1,815
