The concept planned along the H Street Corridor that is describing itself as similar to Union Market, but smaller, is headed to DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA).
The project at 1355-1359 H Street NE (map) that will include restaurant, bar, fitness and event spaces will go before the BZA in March. Jonathan Askarinam and Moe Pishvaeian purchased the buildings in December, and plan to combine the street-facing lots (1355 and 1359 H Street) and three alley lots of the buildings to create one large space for the new concept.

"The proposed use will be similar to Union Market, but on a smaller scale," documents filed with the BZA stated. "Accordingly, some of the spaces may be considered ‘fast food’ or ‘fast casual’ consistent with the use categorization of the food stalls in Union Market and other similar uses."
While the new project is still in its early stages, the plan is to have 14 stalls providing various offerings. Jonathan Askarinam told UrbanTurf that it will include options well beyond food and drink, and they are already in discussion with potential partners, including a rum bar concept.
"The vision is to create a vibrant neighborhood destination that combines retail, restaurants, bars, fitness, and an event venue," he said in an email. "Our focus is to partner with a curated group of entrepreneurs interested in bringing this neighborhood the amenities it deserves."
