Plans for a new all-affordable residential development on a church-owned site in the U Street Corridor continue to move forward.
Beacon Communities and the Christian Tabernacle Church of God have filed an application with DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) to construct a seven-story, 65-unit all-affordable development at 2033 11th Street NW (map).

In addition to the residential component, the new development will have a 8,200 square-foot child development center, as well as a new community plaza. The property, designed by architecture firm Soto, would sit directly next to the existing church building.
The initial plans for this development were filed with DC's Historic Preservation Office back in June. A BZA hearing has yet to be scheduled.
