Three DC restaurants — Pineapple and Pearls, Himitsu and Timber Pizza Company — were just named finalists on Bon Appetit’s best new restaurant list. While Pineapple and Pearls, the relatively new high-end restaurant from Aaron Silverman, was an expected choice, the other two were not necessarily. Located about 200 feet from one another in Petworth, Himitsu and Timber Pizza are not in an area of DC known for delivering some of the city’s highest ranked cuisine, but that is clearly changing. Himitsu is a Japanese restaurant from chef Kevin Tien and Timber Pizza Company is a new pizza spot.
Bon Appetit will announce the top 10 best new restaurants in the country in a couple weeks. Last year, Bad Saint ranked #2 on this list.
