Paying the Check with Your Phone Just Became a Reality in DC

The reservations company OpenTable will soon let DC diners pay for their meal by phone.
In a move announced Tuesday, the company said the DC area would have access to the feature immediately at a handful of restaurants. OpenTable is rolling out the feature to 20 cities by the end of the year, according to a blog post on the company’s website.
Diners connect their OpenTable account to a debit or credit card when they make a reservation using the service. There’s no need for servers or diners to wait on the check; diners pay the bill and give a tip through their phone and can leave whenever they want.
DC is the third metro area to get the feature, joining New York City and San Francisco. Nineteen DC area restaurants are early adopters of the feature, including Teddy & the Bully Bar and Del Campo. Check out the full list here.
